Who we are
VidCapy (vidcapy.com) is an online tool for saving YouTube videos as MP4 or MP3. For any privacy question or request, write to [email protected].
What we collect and why
The link and format you submit
When you tap Download, the video link and the format you picked are sent to our server and to the processing provider that generates the download file. This is needed to provide the service. We don't save these links to a history or associate them with you.
IP address (download limit)
To stop bots from abusing the service, we count how many downloads each IP address makes per minute and per hour. These counters live only in the server's memory and expire automatically within one hour.
Technical server logs
Like almost every website, our web server records technical access logs (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type and error codes). We use them only for security and to fix problems. They are kept for a limited period and deleted periodically.
Contact
If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply.
Cookies and similar technologies
VidCapy itself sets only one cookie, vc_consent, and only for visitors who see the cookie notice. It remembers whether you accepted or rejected ads, for 180 days. We don't use analytics cookies.
Third parties may also use cookies or similar technologies:
- Advertising (Adsterra and its partners): to show ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure performance and prevent fraud. They may receive your IP address, device and browser information and the page you are on. See the Adsterra privacy policy.
- Cloudflare: our network and security provider, which may set strictly necessary cookies to block malicious traffic. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, ads load only after you tap Accept in the cookie notice. You can change your choice at any time through the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of the page. Anywhere else, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; ads will still appear but will be less relevant.
Who else receives data
- Download processing provider: receives the link and format to generate the file. Your browser downloads the file directly from that provider's servers.
- YouTube / Google: the video cover shown in the result is loaded by your browser directly from YouTube's image servers.
- Hosting and network: our server host and Cloudflare process requests so the site can work.
- Advertising networks: as described above.
We don't sell personal information. These providers may operate in other countries; when that happens, data is transferred with the safeguards they offer.
Legal bases (GDPR / LGPD)
- Providing the service you asked for: processing the link and format.
- Legitimate interest: security, logs and the download limit.
- Consent: advertising cookies, where the law requires it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the LGPD in Brazil), you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent at any time. Because we don't have accounts and keep very little data, in most cases there is nothing linked to you. To make a request, email [email protected]. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
VidCapy is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area), and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
